Most people would point their fingers towards the immigrants for the crime problems we have lately, but I would not. To do that is just resorting to blatant blaming without solving the real problem. With all the best hardware in the world, a computer will still fail if the software fucks up. We over-emphasize the need for money over everything else, to the extent that a simple ‘thank you’ or ‘terima kasih’ is arduous to say to a person holding the door for us. We are oblivious to morality and ethics. We see corruption not as a sin, but as means to get a better car or toys for our children which ultimately means that our beloved child is using things that are bought using ‘duit haram’. These are among the things that plague our beloved society. Corruption. Greed. Family breakdowns. They might appear unconnected to the rapes, killings and abductions but if you look at the root of the problems, these are probably some major factors that contribute to the crimes. Until then, we are better off carrying pepper sprays, expensive anti-theft devices or just stay at home all the time. We are accidents waiting to happen.
