Fengh wishes to represent himself. - 2003-12-04 7:00 p.m.
So I am back from the holidays, and everything is now back to normal, earlier than I expected. Except for the fact that I was guilty of travelling more than 110km/h at the highway, which warranted some nice people to remind me to not call Mr. Kettle black... I am guilty of driving over the limit, but I did not realize it, due to the condition of the car and the traffic at that time. For the most part of the journey, I drove 90km/h - 110km/h. Honest! Ask my wife! Really! As a matter of fact, I have this reputation for driving too slow among her family... :) Okay, enough with my pathetic self-defense and shameless pity-me requests already. And stop rolling your eyes. I'm admitting the fact that I am guilty here, and it ain't as easy as you think... Well, since I seem to invite the ocassional sarcasms and personal attacks already, I guess it's only fitting that I should raise some controversy just so that my guestbook would be full :) I really think that we could do without our monarchies. England has one. The Netherlands have one. Japan has one. We have a freaking 11 of them! I think it's a waste of our money. Once upon a time, we were proud of our kings and their families. These days, they beat people, steal other people's wife, get drunk or waste our money by doing unnecessary things. But actually, most of them are okay. Some are even cool. But I think we should just have one instead of eleven. Next. I applaud Pak Lah's decision to fight corruption, but I feel that we Malaysians are too corrupted already to the point that we are helpless. I know these things because I have worked in both user and vendor environments. Sometimes an "Open Tender" isn't an "Open Tender" at all. It's a "cukup syarat" thing. Before the applications start coming in, they've actually decided on who is going to get the multi-million Ringgit tender. Most people I asked says that it has to start with education. If we cannot be helped, then our kids can. Next. What do you think about the 'Jihad' status of suicide bombers? I know that it is blatantly written that if a person kills him or herself, he is by default a 'Murtad'. But what about the suicide bombers? They kill themselves which makes them a 'Murtad', but they do it in the name of God. So what is the 'Hukum'? Personally, I think it's wrong. Why didn't Sayyidinas Abu Bakr or Umar charged blindly while they were in battle? They have always wished for being killed while in war, but I've never heard of them putting about 20 swords around their body and spinning furiously while charging towards the enemy. Let alone some innocent group of non-Muslims. Some might argue that God is the one that determines whether you live or die, but what about going to kill people with the intention of 'Jihad', knowing that you will certainly be killed? Hmmm...
