On Stuffs - 2004-07-08 11:11 a.m.

I decided to ditch IE and OE for the time being. I am just this short of installing linux on my machine. M$ keeps fucking things up with their security problems. The only thing that's pulling me back is the pain-in-the-ass installation for other hardware support like bluetooth or other peripherals if I use linux. My PC is now on Apple OS8 theme. I use Mozilla for browsing and Foxmail for E-mails. Regardless, the main engine is still Windows. It's like a Proton - the body's been changed and all, but the engine is still Mitsubishi. (But even a Rolls Royce is like that - UK designed body and all, but using a German engine)

Onanothernote, I can't escape from my past.

Again...

On I-Pod or i-River - 2004-07-01 12:32 p.m.

Decided to ditch the idea of getting an expensive portable audio. Decided to keep the money in ASB.

Much better, huh?

On Gettin Extra Buckers - 2004-06-29 10:35 a.m.

Should I choose :

- A 20GB (or 40GB if wife agrees to add some cash) I-Pod (I have a 20GB worth of MP3, so an I-Pod Mini won't cut it) for the house fashionista (read: wifey). It's beatiful (both my wife and the I-Pod), has an intuitive interface and is just plain cool. On the other hand, it has a serious battery issue, which lasts less than 8 hours (4-5 hours if I'm using it - equalizer and all) and is a bitch for Win users.

OR

- A 20GB Iriver IHP-120 which is like the swiss army of portable players. It has an FM tuner, supports ogg and wma as well as asf and wav not to mention mp3, has analogue and digital voice recorders (handy when I have a song idea in my head), optical input and output, overall better sound quality than the I-Pod, a cool remote and auto mp3 encoding direct from another audio source (a music geek/nerd's wet dream). Oh, the battery also lasts for 15 hours per charge. But it's not as chic and pretty as the I-Pod, the display is too cramped, has a steep learning curve of 2 weeks compared to 15 seconds for the I-Pod and I would have a hard time convincing my wife to get this one instead of an I-Pod (you women and your fashion sense...hmmmmpph).

OR

Save money to get a couch for the new house.

Hmmmm....

On happiness - 2004-06-25 9:10 p.m.

It is funny how 3 minutes of happiness can make up for one week’s worth of anger and sadness.

People say a photograph (or a picture) is worth a thousand words, but they don’t realize that life happens between the takes.

What is happiness? How do you define happiness?

Will anybody find happiness?

Whenever I get a raise or some cool stuff, I always think that I could get something better. Is greed human nature? In that case, I’ll never be happy.

For me, happiness is sipping coconut on a white beach without having to work for the rest of my life.

Right now, that sounds really great, but if god suddenly makes my wish come true, would I be satisfied?

I don’t know. In the meantime, I am still searching for what happiness is.

On Monotony - 2004-06-24 5:00 p.m.

I find it everytime I try typing some things in this text area, I'm out of ideas.

This sucks crap.

I wish I can write a million things about the things happening around me, unfortunately as of today (ever since the last entry) only 1 and a half things occurred.

At least monotony is predictable.

On Super Trailers - 2004-06-04 10:31 a.m.

That ending in The Super Trailer found in the second disc of the widescreen theatrical version DVD of The Return of the King gave me freaking goosebumps. For almost 10 seconds, we see all the major characters in LOTR and predictably, at the end, there's Frodo Baggins and his sandbag eyes on the foot of Mount Doom while Cate Blanchett was uttering a line that made my heart weep...

Now on to the EXTENDED version, fellow Gondors!

Thuckerin Thucketash...

On Switching - 2004-05-27 1:38 p.m.

As of today, I am leaving Perl, PHP and ASP for a greener pasture Java.

My Tomcat servers are up, my JBuilder is installed and all the things I have to do on paper are done.

Now, I just have to convince my anti-Java boss for approval….
